Special Donors Leave Legacy at USC Aiken

Staff Report From Aiken CEO

Thursday, May 16th, 2019

During its annual Legacy Society brunch, the University of South Carolina Aiken celebrated faculty, staff, families and friends who, through their estate planning, generously help ensure the academic success of numerous students.

Members of the Legacy Society explore planned gift options such as life insurance, annuities, and retirement plans and ultimately determine the best approach for them to leave a gift to USC Aiken. During the annual event, Dr. Sandra Jordan, chancellor, welcomed new legacy donors: Charles Reeve, Jane and Bill Tuten, and Jason and Kim Woodward.

As part of the special celebration, Dr. Liz Stewart, the keynote speaker during the brunch, shared stories of how philanthropy and charity begins at home. Some of the principles she was taught very early in life have guided Stewart's philosophy of encouraging her own company's employees to give 10 percent of their earnings to charities of their choice.
