U.S. News and World Report ranks the University of South Carolina Aiken's online nursing program in the top 100, among more than 1,200 programs surveyed.

"We are thrilled with this news," said Dr. Thayer McGahee, dean of the school of nursing.

"We recently restructured our online RN-to-BSN program, so it now provides a lot more flexibility for working professionals."

With multiple start dates each year, the RN-to-BSN online degree program is convenient and accessible. After selecting the desired start date, students should consider deadlines for completing an application, turning in all required documentation and fees, registering for classes and paying tuition.

The USC Aiken School of Nursing has been recognized by healthcare professionals throughout the CSRA for its rigorous curriculum. In the latest U.S. News and World Report rankings, USC Aiken comes in at 76. Only regionally accredited institutions whose programs are offered mostly or entirely online were evaluated.

"From healthcare leaders in South Carolina and Georgia, we often hear how competent and compassionate our graduates are," said Dr. Sandra Jordan, USC Aiken chancellor.

"Our nursing alumni are in high demand, not only in this area but throughout the state and region.''

The university's online RN-to BSN program is completely online and is designed to help working nurses transform their nursing practice in as few as 12 months. McGahee says that combining liberal arts ideals with real world applications, this online program prepares student for success by challenging them to think critically and creatively, communicate effectively and learn independently in any healthcare setting.

"Taught by the same supportive faculty who teach on campus, this RN to BSN program will equip nurses with the practical experience to help their communities and patients achieve the goal of optimal health," McGahee said.

Applicants for the RN-to-BSN online degree program must complete the online application for admission and send official transcripts from all colleges, universities and nursing schools attended. Institutions must be regionally accredited to receive transfer credit. Applicants should have a minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA, and a current and unencumbered RN license valid in the state where they will do their preceptor work. South Carolina is part of the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements. Only students from SARA states can be accepted into this program.

To fulfill requirements for the RN to BSN online, students must complete nine courses for a total of 31 credit hours. All courses are seven weeks in length.

"In addition to being extremely flexible to fit demanding home and work schedules, our program is quite accessible," McGahee said.

Tuition for the RN-to-BSN online degree program is affordable-$9,486 for students living inside or outside South Carolina-and it can be paid by the course.
