South Carolina Chamber Elects New Leadership

The South Carolina Chamber of Commerce announced its newly elected Officers and Board of Directors for 2018-19.

Leadership terms for the Chamber’s officers and board of directors began on October 1, 2018.

"The Chamber once again has some of the strongest private sector leaders in South Carolina serving in our leadership," said Ted Pitts, President and CEO of the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce. "The state's business community is strong and their interests are well represented with the group on this board."

Chamber Officers:

Lou Kennedy (Chairman): Lou Kennedy is President, Chief Executive Officer and Owner of Nephron Pharmaceuticals Corporation. She joined Nephron Pharmaceuticals in 2001 and accepted the position of President and Chief Executive Officer in September 2007. Along with her husband Bill, Kennedy helped establish the Kennedy Pharmacy Innovation Center in conjunction with the University of South Carolina School of Pharmacy. She serves on a variety of business and civic boards.

Jack Sanders (Past Chairman) – Jack Sanders became Sonoco’s eighth CEO on April 1, 2013. During his nearly 30-year tenure with Sonoco, Sanders played an integral role in growing the company by leading all consumer, industrial and protective packaging businesses at various points. Sanders, a 1976 graduate of Louisiana State University with a Bachelor of Science in Finance, joined Sonoco in 1988 as National Sales and Marketing Manager, Wire and Cable Reels. Sanders serves on the boards of Sonoco, the South Carolina Governor’s School for Science and Mathematics Foundation, and the Charles W. Coker and Elizabeth H. Coker Foundation. Sanders retired from Sonoco in April 2018. 

Steve Spinks (Chair-Elect): Steve Spinks serves as CEO of The Spinx Company where his main responsibilities include overseeing the executive leadership team, directing finance, wholesale and real estate activities. Previously, he served The Spinx Company as President, Chief Financial Officer, Controller, Price Analyst, Construction Manager and Territory Manager. Steve completed his undergraduate degree at Rhodes College in Memphis, TN, and received a master’s degree from Duke University.

Mike Shetterly (General Counsel): Mike Shetterly is the managing shareholder in the Greenville, South Carolina office. Shetterly began his legal career as a litigator in an array of cases, including construction, insurance, toxic torts and non-compete and trade secret cases. He still litigates today, including employment law cases. He therefore has a blended practice, focusing on litigation and proactive advice to clients.

Chris Barras (Treasurer): Chris Barras is an Executive Director in the Greenville office of Ernst & Young LLP. He has more than 28 years of experience in public accounting, specializing in tax services. Barras oversees E&Y’s state and local tax advisory practice in South Carolina and has Carolinas/Southeast area responsibilities within E&Y’s indirect tax practice, providing tax advisory services to companies in a wide variety of industries. Barras specializes in multistate income and franchise taxation, state tax advocacy, and tax accounting considerations for public and private companies. In addition, he oversees services in the areas of property tax, sales & use tax, incentives, employment tax, etc. 

David Lominack (Commerce Chair): David Lominack serves as South Carolina Market President at TD Bank, N.A. Mr. Lominack served as Upstate Market President at TD Bank, N.A. until April 2015. Mr. Lominack served as Market President of the Upstate & Midlands region at The Toronto-Dominion Bank since April 1, 2011 until April 2015. He serves as President of South Carolina and Wilmington at TD Bank US Holding Company. Mr. Lominack joined Carolina First in May 1997 as a Management Associate and was later promoted to Branch Manager, then Commercial Loan Officer and Retail Market Executive for the Upstate region. He served as Market President for Upstate and Midlands, South Carolina at The Toronto-Dominion Bank.
