Aiken City Council Unanimously Appoints Stuart Bedenbaugh Aiken’s Eighth City Manager

Bedenbaugh, a native of Clearwater, SC, is a graduate of Midland Valley High School attended the University of South Carolina where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in History while minoring in Economics and later a Master of Public Administration degree. Prior to his appointment, he worked for the Lower Savannah Council of Governments, the South Carolina Legislative Audit Council and Aiken County. Bedenbaugh served as Aiken’s Assistant City Manager from April 2011 to February 2018 before being selected by City Council to serve as Interim City Manager. Bedenbaugh is a member of the International City/County Management Association. He resides in Aiken with his wife Catherine and has two children attending the University of South Carolina, son Thomas and daughter Colleen.
Upon his appointment, Council and Bedenbaugh executed a one-year contract through July 9, 2019. Bedenbaugh will be evaluated in mid-January 2019 and again before mid-July 2019. He will be paid an annual salary of $130,000.
