Aiken Chamber Chair Joshua Stewart Appoints Two to Chamber Board

Chamber Chair Joshua E. Stewart, J.E. Stewart Engineering, has appointed Vahid Majidi, Ph.D. and Rhonda Overbey to fill two unexpired board terms.
Dr. Majidi is executive vice president and director, Savannah River National Laboratory, Savannah River Nuclear Solutions, LLC and is responsible for the management, operation and strategic direction of the National Lab.
Dr. Majidi is a decorated former member of the senior executive service and senior intelligence service with direct reporting responsibilities to the U.S. Secretary of Defense, U.S. Director of National Intelligence and the Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Dr. Majidi has more than 30 years of experience in the fields of chemistry, measurement science and technology, national and homeland security, science and technology policy and nuclear nonproliferation.
Most recently Dr. Majidi was senior vice president for strategic initiatives at Stinger Ghaffarian Technologies, Inc. Dr. Majidi previously served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Nuclear Matters, responsible for nuclear weapon surety and the acquisition and modernization of the nuclear weapons stockpile.
Rhonda Overbey, a 27-year veteran of the newspaper industry, is the publisher of the Evening Post Industries’ Aiken Standard and North Augusta Star.
Overbey’s skill sets include advertising, niche publications and digital media marketing. She has a unique passion and understanding of community newspapers.
She moved to Aiken from Sedalia, Missouri, where she was the publisher of the Sedalia Democrat. Before becoming a publisher, Overbey spent a decade in advertising sales and management in Arkansas and Oklahoma.
Overbey began her career in the newsroom of the Log Cabin Democrat while in college at the University of Arkansas. She is a native of Conway, Arkansas, and has lived in Aiken since October 2017.
